Aid for Those Allergies

Spring... Trees are blossoming, daffodils have emerged, and the sneezing has begun... Here are some of my favorite "go-to's" for this potentially "sneezy" time of year:

Herbs can be helpful in supporting the body's respiratory and immune systems during seasonal changes. Nature's Sunshine's ALJ is an herbal blend available in liquid or capsules that is gentle and safe for children and adults. The blend contains boneset aerial parts, fennel seeds, fenugreek seeds, horseradish root and mullein leaves extract. Here are potential benefits of ALJ:

· Support for seasonal changes

· Soothes irritated tissues

· Encourages the entire respiratory tract to gently cleanse itself

· Supports healthy lung function

· Assists the body in neutralizing allergens by nutritional means

Essential oils can also be very supportive in times of congestion and inflammation of the respiratory tract. Here is a recipe that uses aromatherapy inhalers:

Calming and soothing lavender

Essential Oil Inhaler Recipe:

4 drops Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, or Peppermint authentic essential oil 3 drops Lavender Organic authentic essential oil 4 drops Frankincense Organic or Breathe Deep authentic essential oil blend

1 aromatherapy inhaler Simply open the inhaler and drop the essential oils onto the cotton wick. Put the cotton wick back into the plastic inhaler case and put the cap on. You can then unscrew the base and inhale. Enjoy! Where can you get inhalers? The inhaler containers are available through

What about food and seasonal allergies? Eating anti-inflammatory foods such as pungent herbs and spices- cayenne pepper, garlic, ginger, green vegetables, homemade broth, water and fresh organic lemon water can all be helpful.

Also, make sure to get rid of the "whites." These ingredients are white flour, wheat flour (this is not whole wheat flour), sugar, and conventional dairy. For some, gluten may also cause more inflammation and allergies in the body. Enjoying fresh, whole foods that God has made should make a huge difference. When I had awful allergies as a child, I noticed that giving up sugar and dairy was the antidote I needed.

With these suggestions, I trust you will be able to "stop and smell the ro ses" with ease and enjoyment this spring!
